Meetings Held Quarterly

Next Meeting- Sat. May 5, 2012 --Linda Ziemann will be the guest speaker

Her topic for the day will be “DNA— Connecting the Dots within Family History with the assistance of DNA Y – Chromosome Testing.” Linda plans to share how the Y-DNA chromosome test kit, done by her father, has proved invalu- able in determining lineage to the correct ancestral family lines.

The test was simple: it involved scraping the inside of the cheek with a little brush. No blood was drawn. Checking the Y-DNA involves the father-son relationship. Linda’s father was 82 1/2 years of age at the time of the test. He was the only living male in the generation closest to the de-ceased ancestors, thus making her dad the best family participant. There will be a time for questions and answers.

Following the program, Linda Z. will demonstrate a few things about the Gen-
Web sites including how to submit obitu- aries, biographies, marriage write-ups and other historical articles.

The meeting will begin at 1:30 in the AF- TERNOON at the Le Mars Public Library. The library is located one block south of the main intersection in downtown Le Mars. The library is a large while building to the southwest. The meeting room is on the south side of the library.

The schedule for May 5th will be:
1:30-1:40—Coffee and Registration
1:40-1:50—Introductions
1:50-2:45— DNA Program and GenWeb Demonstration
2:45—3:15—Short Business Meeting
